WOMEN’S INSTITUTE
KOPUARANGA MEETING. COMPETITION WINNERS. (“Times-Age” Special.) At the monthly meeting of the Kopuaranga Women’s Institute, the president (Mrs Jarrett) presided over a fair attendance of members. Apologies for absence were received from Mesdames C. C. Jackson, J. Brophy 0. O’Connor and Hansen. Members expressed their willingness to assist the stalls at a garden party to be held at Mrs Munn’s residence in November. Potatoes for the potato competition were donated by Mrs W. J. Cottle. A lecture on “Uses of Wool” proved most interesting. In conjunction with the lecture a member gave a demonstration on spinning and weaving. Afternoon tea was served by the hostesses, Mesdames Jarrett and Reside, ■ : ' 1 liS i It was stated that two soldiers’ parcels had been made up and forwarded during the month, and a parcel of fourteen articles handed in to the Country Districts’ Red Cross Society. The competitions resulted as follows: —Best bloom: Mrs Clarke, 1; Mrs Reside, 2: Miss Wright,. 3. Mittens from old socks: Mrs Wright, 1; Miss Wright, 2; Mrs Jarrett, 3.
