LOCAL AND GENERAL
Telephone Subscriptions. The Postal Department notifies telephone subscribers in Masterton that all telephones for which subscriptions remain unpaid after Wednesday next, will be disconnected. U.A.O. D. Dance. There was a fair attendance at the dance held by the Druids’ Lodge in the Orange Hall, Masterton, on Saturday night. The music was supplied by Messrs J. West and I. Taylor. Mr W. R. Pawson was M.C. Supper was served by a committee headed by Mrs C. Wilmshurst. Old Time Dance. There was an attendance of about two hundred people at the old time dance held by the Wairarapa College Parents’ Association at the College Assembly Hall, Masterton, on Saturday night. Under the capable direction of Mr W. R. Nicol, proceedings went with a swing. Mrs V. J. Ashton’s Orchestra provided the music. Novelty dances were held. Supper was served by an efficient committee. It was decided to hold another dance in a fortnight’s time. Red Star Football Club. The Red Star Football Club brought the season to a close on Saturday night" with a social gathering in the Savage Club rooms when a large attendance was presided over by Mr A. Corskie (president of the club). Among those present were Messrs Bert Wilson and T. Corkill (All Black) former members of the club, and who now reside in Wellington. A number of toasts were honoured and musical items were given by Messrs H. Corlett and C. Roys. A most enjoyable time was spent by those present.
