VICHY LEGATION

BEING CLOSED IN PERSIA. PURSUIT OF THE MUFTI OF JERUSALEM. (British Official Wireless.) (Received This Day. 10.25 a.m.) RUGBY, October 8. The Foreign Minister, Mr Anthony Eden, in the House of Commons, stated that Persia had been asked to close the Vichy Legation and he understood that steps had been taken to comply with the request. In answer to a question, Mr Eden said the Mufti of Jerusalem had not yet been caught. He added: “The Persian authorities are fully aware of the importance which the Allied Governments attach to the arrest of the Mufti and all possible steps are being taken to secure him.”
