PLUNKET SOCIETY
MASTERTON BRANCH MEETING OF COMMITTEE. The monthly meeting of the committee of the Masterton branch of the Plunket Society was held yesterday afternoon. Those present were: Mesdames T. Jordan (in the chair), J. D. O’Connor, S. L. P. Free, R. C. Drummond, N. Irwin, T. F. Watson, H. R. Keltie, J. V. Gordon, P. Nathan, I. Bunny, A. F. Stewart, H. Morrison, Sortain Smith, R. Miller (Mauriceville sub-branch), J. James, E. J. Heffer, A. H. Falloon, H. H. Daniell, C. A. Carmine, and D. Donald. Apologies for absence were received from Mesdames G. Cowie, E. G. Norman, J. Broad, E. G. Eton and T. W. Wardell. Accounts amounting to £74 were passed for payment. A letter was received from Miss Fitzgibbon (nursing adviser) stating that Dr. Deem, medical adviser to the Council, would visit the Masterton branch on October 22 and 23. A grant of £25 was received with thanks from the Trust Lands Trust. ' A circular received from headquarters stated that Lady Newall had consented to open the Plunket Society's general conference to be held in Wellington on October 15 and 16. Sir Cyril Newall would unveil the national memorial to Sir Truby King at Melrose on October 16. The memorial portrait would be unveiled at the conference on the evening of October 15. In the absence of Mrs J. Caselberg, Mrs R. Miller was appointed the third delegate to the Plunket Society’s general conference. Thanks were recorded to Mrs Renton for the gift of a child’s truck, and to Mrs Miller for an infant’s knitted jacket. The nurses’ report stated:—Masterton: Visits to office, adults, 416; babies, 397; pre-school children, 46; casuals, 15;’total, 874. Visits to homes, new cases, 30; old cases, 134; total, 164. Preschool children seen in homes, 21. New cases for the month: Town, 20. Outstations: Tinui sub-brancn, Blaiilogie, Tinui; Annedale, 1 visit each. Visits to homes, 12. Mauriceville subbranch (Mauriceville East and West) and Kopuaranga, 2 visits each. Mangamahoe and Ihuarau Valley, 1 visi each. Visits to homes, 18. Pre-natal section, new cases, 2. Return visits,. 7; outside visits, 6; casuals, 2; other visits, 17. . . * The sum of £2O was received from the Mauriceville sub-branch as its contribution towards the nurses s salaiy.
