BETWEEN JAPAN & THAILAND BY BRITISH & AMERICAN DIPLOMACY. ACCORDING TO TOKIO PAPERS. (By Telegraph—Press Association—Copyright) (Received This Day, 11.45 a.m.) NEW YORK, October 7. An increasing belief that United States and British diplomacy is driving a wedge between Japan and Thailand is reflected in the Japanese Press, says the Associated Press of America Tokio correspondent. A “Yomiuri Shimbun” dispatch from Bangkok says the Singapore conferences formulated the following demands: (1) Thailand to give a specific assurance of neutrality. (2) Britain to be given priority in the supply of vital raw materials. (3) Pro-Axis tendencies in Thailand to be eradicated. The “Kokumih Shimbun” described the conferences in Singapore and Hong Kong as a threat, to the establishment Of the cd-prosperity sphere and Warned Japan not. to remain indifferent. The “Asahi Shimbu.n” quoting its Manila correspondent, said the discussions concerned joint aerial action and the. strengthening of the anti-Japan encircling front. '
