Mr D. G. O’Toole has been re-elect-ed president of the Wanganui Chamber of Commerce.
Mr J. Stephen, supervisor of the clerical branch of the Hamilton Chief Post Office, has been appointed postmaster to Te Puke. Messrs A. W. Thompson and W. J. Buick, of Masterton, have been posted to the anti-tank corps, Waiouru Camp. They will proceed to camp on October 16. Mr and Mrs Geo. Clarke, of Bentley Street, Masterton, have received official advice that their son, Bruce, is a prisoner of war in Germany. He is wounded in the left leg. The many friends of Mr FrankReeves, of Masterton, will be pleased to hear that he has come through a serious operation successfully and with a hopeful promise of better health in the near future. Mr Reeves will be unable to attend this week’s meeting of the Masterton Racing Club. He has served on the staff for 28 years.
