AIRCRAFT LOSSES
BALANCE AGAINST BRITAIN LAST WEEK. AS RESULT OF UNCEASING OFFENSIVE. (British Official Wireless.) RUGBY, October 5. The strongly offensive character of the British air operations over both Europe and Africa is reflected in the comparative figures of the British and enemy losses for the week ending at dawn today. The losses arc: —Over Britain: Enemy, 4 bombers; R.A.F., no losses. Over Europe (excluding Russia): Enemy, 11 fighters; R.A.F., 12 fighters, 14 bombers, and 4 others. In the Middle East: Enemy, 2 fighters and 2 others; R.A.F., 13 aircraft. In Russia: Enemy, 3; R.A.F., 0. The Navy meanwhile'announce that one enemy plane has been destroyed by his Majesty’s ships on an unspecified date.
When European and the Middle East figures are read in conjunction with the week’s R.A.F. communiques detailing large-scale and successful operations, the damage caused can be ranged with confidence against the losses sustained by Britain’s ceaselessly hammering forces.
