AUSTRALIAN RACING EVENTS AT RANDWICK. METROPOLITAN WON BY DASHING CAVALIER. (By Telegraph—Press Association— Copyright) SYDNEY, October 6. The A.J.C. spring carnival was continued at Randwick today, when the principal races resulted as follows: The Metropolitan Handicap, lm. and 5f.: Dashing Cavalier, 9.0 (F. Shean), 1, Lucrative, 9.3 (M. McCarten), 2; Trigger Man, 7.3 (A. Knox), 3. The only scratching was Pandect, who developed lameness after Saturday’s race. The early leaders were Trigger Man, Chatoona, Goose Boy and Yours Truly, with Lucrative and Veiled Threat in the centre of the field and Serenata just behind. With three furlongs to go Lucrative got to the front, hotly pursued by Triggerman and Dashing Cavalier, who came strongly from behind. Turning into the straight Lucrative was carried out wide by Dashing Cavalier, who secured a run on the rails, and in a dazzling run to the post Dashing Cavalier gained the verdict by half a neck. Triggerman was two lengths and a half away third. Chatoona was fourth, then Goose Boy, Veiled Threat, Gundagai and Yours Truly. Time, 2.411, an Australian and New Zealand record. The Breeders’ Plate, for two-year-old colts and geldings, 5f.: Bangster, 8.5 (F. Delaney), 1; Hall Stand, 8.5 (D. Munro), 2; High Flight, 8.5 (W. Cook), 3. Eighteen started, including Sequel, Marwin and the favourite Riverton. Riverton Was left at the barrier. Bangster won by half a head and survived a protest for interference with Hall Stand in the straight. A neck separated second and third. Yarrawonga was fourth. Time, 1.1.

The Shorts Handicap, 6f.: Winnipeg, 8.9 (D. Munro), 1; Duvach, 8.1 (H. Badger), 2; Kingsdale, 7.13 (J. Thompson), 5 Seven started. Duvach gave her best display in this event, which embraced four leading Sydney sprinters. Won by two lengths. Kingsdale was a length and a half away third. Time, 1.21.

Centennial Park Handicap, for three-year-old fillies, lm.: Arahura, 7.5 (N. Percival), 1; Two’s Company, 7.12 (J. Thompson), 2; Steal On, 8.0 (H. Badger), 3 Seven started. Head; two lengths. Magi was fourth. Time, 1.36?.
