ON THE TRACKS

GALLOPS THIS MORNING. There was a strong representation on the tracks at Opaki this morning. The course, proper was in use. W. J. Bromby was first on the scene with Royal Counsellor and Gold Dip, both doing a useful 4 furlongs. These two were followed by Cheerful Lady and Sceptre who cut out the half mile in 54 seconds. Most interesting gallops were those of Majority and Happy Ending, who raced over five furlongs together in 1.7 1-5 seconds, their work being most impressive. White Rajah and Moderate, using the inside track, did strong pace work, shaping well.

A new arrival, Sir Wino (by Pink Coat) in charge of. W. Paku, moved impressively and was sorted out 'by watchers as likely to develop into a useful racer. This two-year-old ran 3 furlongs in 40 seconds. Molly Malone and Te Awe Awe covered 4 furlongs in 53 3-5 seconds, both finishing together extra well. Gladynev and Motonomy did 6 furlongs in 1.21. The former appears to be very fit. Fox Fur and Lacalla went over 4 furlongs in 56 seconds, but did not appear to be all out. Te Ore and Fasolt did a good gallop together covering the 1-mile in 531. Te Ore went the better of the two.

Augment ran by himself, doing 4 furlongs in 521 —the best time on -the track this morning. He went particularly well. *
