ALL OBJECTIVES HIT
IN RAID ON ITALY BRITISH OFFICIAL REPORT. HEAVY ATTACKS ON LIBYAN BASES. i — (British Official Wireless.) (Received This Day, 11.30 a.m.) RUGBY, October 5. A R.A.F. Middle East communique states: “The R.A.F. on October 3 successfully attached for the first time an important railway junction, a power station, and a munition factory at Marina Di Catanzaro, in the “toe” of Italy. The raid was made from a low level and hits were obtained on all objectives, causing considerable damage. A stationary supply train in the junction was also machine-gunned. "On the night of October 3 and on the following day, Bardia Harbour and nearby military objectives Were heavily attacked. The South African Air Force participated in these effective raids and also attacked an enemy camp near Solium. Numerous reconnaissances and protective fighter patrols were made, but few engagements resulted and none were of a decisive character. One of our planes is missing from all these operations.
