£ FOR DURATION OF WAR LOCAL TERRITORIALS FOR WAIOURU. (“Times-Age” Special.) ' Several local .territorials who have recently completed three months training at the Waiouru - Military Camp have now received notice to proceed to Waiouru for the duration of the war. Rainfall at Carrington. Mr J. A. Roberts, of Carrington, reports that 4.24 inches of rain fell in September, the heaviest fall being 1.28 inches on September 26. There were 10 wet days. Mr Roberts reports that on Wednesday and Thursday 2 inches of rain fell. School Committee. The monthly meeting of the Carterton District High School Committee will be held on Monday night at 7.30 o’clock. Rivers in Flood. As the result of heavy rain yester-day-the Kaipatangata and Maungaterere rivers overflowed and the Dalefield Road was flooded for a considerable distance near the Dalefield cheese • factory. Traffic, however, was not interfered with. Parkvale Dance. A dance and euchre tournament will be held in the Parkvale Hall tonight. Mrs Ashton’s Orchestra will provide the music. Home Guard. The next parade of the Carterton Home Guard will be held in the King s Theatre on Tuesday night. The Signal Section under Platoon Commander E. Smith, will parade at the State Theatre. The following Guardsmen have been transferred: —Guardsman A. L. Marley to E.P.S. Section; Guardsman J. E. Birchall to 2nd Division; Sergeant M. J. Nicolls to the Masterton Home Guard. The following Guardsmen have marched out of the Company: — Corporal A. G. A. Reading, Guardsmen A. W. Blake, W. A. Smith and T. C. Usher to the Territorial Camp.
