HOME GUARD
* MASTERTON BATTALION RECRUITING WEEK. GOOD RESPONSE RECORDED. New recruits are enrolling in units and interest has been much sti* mutated by the special recruiting week held by the Masterton ■ Battalion of the Home Guard, which .concluded today. The battalion commander, Lieut. A. L. Hibbs, D.C.M., wishes to express his thanks to all who had assisted in the week’s campaign, particularly business men, the theatre managers and the Press. Three full-time instructors have been appointed for the district and these have just completed a special refresher course. They will be available to assist in all future instruction. ROUTINE ORDERS. CLASSES, PARADES, & OTHER ACTIVITIES. Routine orders for the Masterton Battalion of the Home Guard for the forthcoming week are: Classes. —Officers and N.C.O.’s: Tuesday, October 7, at Municipal Hall at 7.30 p.m. P.T.: Tuesday, October 7, at the College Assembly Hall at 7.30 p.m. Signallers: Parades as arranged by signal officer. Ambulance: Will parade Thursday, October 9, at St. John’s Rooms at 7.0 p.m. The lecturer at the officers’ class will be Captain R. Lee and that at the N.C.O.’s class Lieutenant R. C. Ward, whose subject will be “Messages and Reports.” Parades. —A Company at Drill Hall, C Company at Municipal Hall, Thursday, October 9, at 7.0 p.m. Battalion Headquarters and A and C Companies at respective drill halls, Sunday, October 12, at 8.0 p.m. Parade will be held wet or fine. Other units as arranged by unit commanders. Miniature range practice.—Signallers and Ambulance platoons will parade at Malmo’s Garage, Chapel Street, on Thursday, October 9, at 7.15 p.m. Transfers, promotions and appointments: (Dpi H. V. Marshall to be Sergeant. R. Stewart to be Sergeant and transferred to Intelligence Platoon. The following are also transferred to Intelligence Platoon: From A Company, S. C. Haybittie, R. C. Simpson, D. A. Barnes, H. G. Scott, F. J. Graham, L. Holtham, I. Tweddell. From C Company: J. M. Lawson, B. .J. Roache, R. S. Graham, P. S. Alexander, H. W. Robinson. Marched in.—3s recruits. Marched out.—A Company. K. E. Benge and S. J. Whittaker (to Territorial Camps, I Sutherland, and J McArley (left district), W. E. L. Baker (left district). F Company, P. Haeata (to Overseas Camp). One month’s leave of absence granted to F. C. Brockett (Quartermaster).
