ST. LUKE’S CHURCH MEETING OF LADIES’ GUILD. (“Times-Age” Special.) There was a large attendance of members at the St. Luke’s Anglican Ladies’ Guild meeting yesterday afternoon. Canon Sykes occupied the chair, and opened the meeting with prayer. ■ Mrs Vinsen offered to arrange the flowers in the church for October. An account was passed for payment. The “wandering shilling” parcel went to Mrs S. Keedwell. It was decided to not hold a Christmas hamper’ competition this year. Mrs S. Shedden submitted plans for a screen for the back of the stage and this was approved. Arrangements for the , Halloween Fair on October 31, were finalised. Canon Sykes offered to open the Fair. The hostesses for the afternoon were Mesdames Benseman and Smallwood. At the conclusion of the meeting Canon Sykes reminded those present of the Patronal Festival to be held this month, and also the Confirmation service on October 18. METHODIST CHURCH GUILD MEMBERS MEET. The members of the Greytown Methodist Church Ladies' Guild held their monthly meeting on Wednesday afternoon at the residence of Mrs KnowlesSmith. Mrs W. H. Sadler presided over a good attendance of members. It was decided to send parcels for Christmas to the Maori Missions. Mesdames H. Farley and G. Greathead were elected sick visitors for October. Church anniversary celebrations were discussed. Afternoon tea was provided by the members. Mrs Knowles-Smith was thanked for the use of her room for the meeting.
