PARCELS TO SOLDIERS
POSTAGE RATE REDUCED FOR THE CHRISTMAS PERIOD. ANNOUNCEMENT BY MINISTER. IBy Telegraph—Press Association.) WELLINGTON, This Day. Reduced postage rates on parcels for soldiers in the Middle East, Great Britain, Canada and elsewhere for the Christmas period, posted between now and the end of this month, were announced yesterday by the PostmasterGeneral, Mr Webb. Mr Webb said that the following postage rates will apply this month:— For parcels not exceeding 31b, Is; parcels between 31b and 111 b, 2s. “The effect of the concession is that parcels weighing between 71b and 111 b will, for the rest of this month, be accepted at the reduced rate of 2s instead of the- normal rate of 45,” said Mr Webb. “Though the concession is to operate till the end of this month, in view of the difficulty in obtaining shipping space, people who wish to ensure that their parcels will reach the soldiers in time for Christmas would be well advised to post them not later than- October 15.”
