SPINNING WOOL
MASTERTON GROUP ACTIVE. SIXTEEN WHEELS IN USE. The spinning of wool in Masterton is progressing by leaps and bounds. Every week a number of Masterton ladies assemble for an afternoon’s spinning. Yesterday the gathering was held at the residence of the Misses Morrison, Lansdowne, when sixteen wheels were in use. Meetings are also held at the residences of Mrs W. A. Todd and Mrs D. Cameron. Mrs W. H. Robieson has acted as instructor to the group, the membership of which now totals 22. The difficulty of procuring heavy wool for making into pullovers and seaboot stockings for men in minesweepers and the mercantile marine was the reason which prompted a start being made with home spinning. Some of the members are now spinning splendid examples of fine wool, and donations of garments are being made to. others besides the mercantile marine, though the latter is the primary consideration. The members of the group are very grateful to friends in the country who have supplied fleeces for spinning. Miss K. Morrison is the organiser’ of the group,
