HEAVY RAIN
FALL IN .WELLINGTON L AST NIGHT. MINOR DAMAGE REPORTED. (By Telegraph—Press Association.) WELLINGTON. This Day. Heavy rain fell in Wellington all last night, 1.68 inches being recorded to nine a.m. Rain has continued since. There is a large amount of surface water in the Hutt Valley and the river is rising but serious flooding is not anticipated, as the rain in the upper reaches has apparently eased oft’. The only road damage so far reported is a slip on the hill road ovei\Paekakariki, blocking this old highway. There is extensive surface flooding in Tawa Flat and Porirua.
