GUERILLA FIGHTING

CONTINUED IN CRETE BRITISH & IMPERIAL TROOPS * TAKING PART. FREQUENT ATTACKS MADE ON GARRISONS. (Received This Day, 12.15 p.m.) LONDON, October 1. A thousand British and Imperial troops and 800 Greek troops are conducting a savage guerilla warfare against, the German garrisops in the rugged mountains near Canea, in Crete. The German garrisons are composed mainly of very young soldiers. Two to three times weekly, the guerillas slip down from the mountains, kill a few Germans, seize their weapons and return to the mountains over a rugged and roadless terrain over which the Germans cannot hope to follow.
