0 APPEAL BOARD SITTING WAIRARAPA. CASES. MANY APPLICATIONS BEING HEARD. A sitting of the No. 4 Armed Forces Appeal Board was hold in Masterton today. Mr W. F. Stilwell. S.M.. presided. with whom was associated Messrs A..V. Parlane and J. G. Brodie. Mr O. C. Bell represented the Crown. A large number of cases were set down for hearing. An appeal lodged by J. B. Moodic on behalf of Alexander Shaw Hay, farm manager on the ground of public interest was adjourned sine die, with the proviso that the appeal would be reviewed on March 31, 1942.
W. J. Dwane appealed against the calling up of Sidney William Dwane. hairdresser, Carterton. on the ground of undue hardship. Mr J. MacFarlane Laing appeared for the appellant. The appeal 'Was dismissed. In the following cases, unless otherwise stated, the appeals arc lodged on the grounds of public interest and undue hardship. N. R. Jones appealed against, the calling up of Arthur Norman Jones, farm. hand. Mr R. McKenzie appeared for the appellant. The appeal was dismissed subject to the reservist not being called up before January 31. 1942. An appeal lodged by C. H. Ruston (Mr J. Macfarlane Laing) against the calling up of William James Blinkhome. farm manager, was dismissed subject to Blinkhorne not being called up before January 31, 1942. A. E. Vile, (Mr H. Lawson, Featherston) appealed against the calling up of Richard John Viles, farm hand. The appeal was adjourned sine die. W. C. L. Benton (Mr Lawson) lodged an appeal in respect to Richard Gwen Benton, farmer. The appeal was adjourned sine die subject to the reservist joining the Home Guard at Featherston within 14 days.
E. L. Gates appealed against the calling up of Victor Howard Gates and William Francis Gates. The appeal in respect to V. H. Gates was adjourned sine die and the appeal relating to William F. Gates was dismissed, subject to the reservist not being called up prior to December 31, 1941. J. C. Cooper (Mr T. Jordan) appealed against the calling up of Francis Patrick Cooper, farmer. The appeal was adjourned sine die with the direction that the reservist enter Territorial camp on May 1. , An appeal against the calling up of Walter Norman Cameron, sheep farmer, Rangitumau, was Jodged by W. Cameron (Mr N. G. Whiteman). An appeal was also lodged by the reservist. The appeal was dismissed subject to the reservist not being called up prior to March 31. . F. W. Parry (Mr R. R. Burridge) appealed on behalf of Harold Wakefield Petley Parry. The appeal was adjourned sine die, the reservist to continue serving in the Kaiparoro Home Guard. Sir William Perry lodged an appeal in respect to Noel Kenneth Vincent, dairy farm manager. The appeal was dismissed. Charles Jensen, Waihakeke. Carterton, appealed against the calling up of Joseph Anders Jensen. The appeal was adjourned sine die, subject to the reservist joining the Carterton unit of the Home Guard within 14 days. G. W. Moy appealed against the calling up of Alexander William Moy, market gardener, Greytown. The reservist also lodged an appeal. The appeal was adjourned sine die with the direction that the reservist enter the Territorial camp on May 31. (Proceeding.)
