— * WORKING MEN’S CLUB SOCIAL GATHERING LAST NIGHT. (“Times-Age” Special.) The social gathering held by the members of the South Wairarapa Working Men's Club last night, at which their wives and friends weie present was most enjoyable. The first part of the evening was devoted to a euchre party, the winners being, men, J McHardy 1, D. Jewell 2; ladies, Mrs Hood 1, Mrs Hughes 2 The hidden numbers were won by Mr J. Eaton and Mrs McKay. After supper Mr W. Gregg (president) expressed his pleasure at seeing so many present. He stated that during the year the club had held a series cf euchre tournaments, and the proceeds had amounted to £23 12s. He had asked the Mayor, Mr A. W. Horton, to accept a cheque for that amount, the money to be used for providing soldiers’ parcels. Mr Horton thanked the club members for the gift and stated that all members of the club would receive gift parcels. Mr Te Tau’s orchestra supplied the music. Mr and Mrs M. Bouzaid won the lucky spot dance. Mrs T. G. R. Ingley sang two songs, •‘Just Because the Violets” and “Smiling Through,” Mrs T. Gold playing the accompaniments. Mrs Gold sang two solos, and Mi’ W. Brown and Miss Joan Bouzaid gave an exhibition of tap dancing. All these items were greatly appreciated. Personal.' The members of the Gi’eytown Football Club made a presentation to Mr T. Sugrue on Saturday. On behalf of the club, Mr Pickard wished him every success and expressed the hope that his association with the Air Force would be as successful as his football career had been. Mr Sugrue left for Levin on Monday.
