WASTE PAPER
COLLECTION IN MASTERTON. Owing to the fact that the wool press used by the Waste Paper - Committee in Masterton was in use for a fortnight on the farm, the local depot became very congested. For the past few days Messrs G. M. Ross and W. H. Dickens, who have been in charge of the receiving and packing of the paper since the inception of the scheme, were very busy sorting and packing. Good wrapping paper is separated and sold to various shops at 25s per cwt and over £2O is in hand from this source. Other papers are separately handled. Magazines are separated and the balance of the paper is pressed for forwarding to the mills. On one day last week, after separating the paper which could be used locally, Messrs Ross and Dickens pressed and packed over two tons ready for railing. In this matter Masterton is giving a lead to all the inland towns in New Zealand.
