LADIES’ NIGHT

MASTERTON OPTIMIST CLUB FUNCTION. ADDRESS BY MATRON GRANT. Although the Masterton Optimist Club had concluded this year’s session a decision was recently made to hold a ladies' night. The function was held in the Y.M.C.A. rooms on Saturday night when there was a fair attendance of members and their guests. Following the Sheriff’s session, conducted by Optimist E. J. Esler, a song session was held, the music for which was provided by Miss J. Hall and Optimist L. Pither. Miss Helen D. Grant, matron of Masterton Hospital gave an interest account of the early history of the Masterton Hospital and its subsequent development into a modern institution. She was accorded a hearty vote of thanks. The meeting closed with prayer led by Optimist C. W. Gaze. The majority of those present afterwards attended a dance held in the Y.M.C.A. games hall.
