FIGHTERS AT WORK
• —•••—■ —————- GERMAN MINE-SWEEPERS SET ON FIRE OPERATIONS ON FRENCH COAST. NG BRITISH PLANES LOST. LONDON September 26. This afternoon fighter aircraft attacked four enemy mine-sweep-ers and two anti-aicraft ships off Dunkirk. Two mine-sweepers were set on fire. Another fighter patrol attacked a small enemy patrol ship off Cherbourg. These operations were carried out without loss. RECENT LULL. IN BOMBING OF GERMANY.. DUE SOLELY TO WEATHER. LONDON. September 26. The aviation correspondent of the ‘‘Daily Mail” says the lull in the Royal Air Force bombing of Germany in the past week has been solely due to weather conditions on the continent. R.A.F. heavy bombers will again pound Germany when conditions permit. SOLITARY RAIDER DROPS BOMBS HARMLESSLY IN EAST ANGLIA. (British Official Wireless.) (Received This Day, 9.25 a.m.) RUGBY. September 26. An official communique states: •‘Early last night a single enemy aircraft dropped bombs harmlessly near the coast of East Anglia. Apart from this incident there is nothing to report.”
