DUKE OF AOSTA
RELEASE ON PAROLE REPORTS RUMOURS OF FASCIST SPLIT IN ITALY. ATTEMPT TO BREAK AWAY FROM GERMANY. (By Telegraph—Press Association—Copyright) (Received This Day, 10.55 a.m.) LONDON, September 26. The Duke of Aosta, who commanded the Italian forces In North Africa, has been released on parole and is now in a home, states a French report quoted by the “Daily Express.” The report of his release follows persistent suggestions that a powerful section of the Fascist Party is trying to break with Germany and to make a separate peace with England. The “Express” links with the Duke of Aosta report a Swiss message that the Italian secret police murdered Dr. Osvaldo Sebastinai, a former personal secretary to Mussolini. The official account of Dr. Sebastinai’s death stated that he was killed in a plane crash. The “Frankfurter Zeitung” hints that more German troops may be moved into Italy and says: “Italy's position today is Germany’s business. Our troops must give Italy necessary support as England is probably preparing to strike at Italy in the near future. Italy is preparing for a long war.”
