GREYTOWN
RED CROSS SOCIETY MEETING. OF SUB-CENTRE. (“Times-Age” Special.) At a meeting of the executive committee of the Greytown Sub-Centre of the New Zealand Red Cross Society there were present Mr A. W. Horton (president). Mesdamcs Bunny, Knell. Gregor, Horton, Everett, Maddison, Kempton and Jury. A letter was received from the Junior Red Cross Circle giving details of their work since the circle commenced operations. It was decided that the secretary write to the Junior Red Cross Circle stating how pleased the committee was to receive their report and wishing the circle every success. The Greytown Associated Ministers forwarded a cheque for £9, being the amount of the collection taken at the combined service held on Sunday, September 9. Appreciation of this generous donation was expressed. The secretary reported that donations had been received from Mrs McLeod, £4 10s 6d and £5 5s for the prisoner of war fund, and also £3 from the sale of V badges by Miss Wood and members of the V.A.D. class. The sub-cenire greatly appreciated these donations. • It was reported, that the V.A’s. held another successful dance in aid of depot equipment, the credit balance being £5 4s 9d. A letter was received from the Deputy Controller, Medical and Nursing Committee, E.P.S. (Mr G. F. Eagar) stating that it was necessary to have six maternity outfits, and asking if the society could see its way to supply the same. It was decided that the £9 given to the society by the Associated Ministers be expended on maternity outfits. It was resolved that the Lady Galway Guild be asked to assist in the making up of these garments, and that Mrs Knoll be asked to represent the society in the purchase oi the maternity outfits. Inn connection with the North Island V.A.D. conference at Palmerston North, Mrs F. C. Bunny (Greytown). and Mrs G S. Sharp (Featherston) were nominated as delegates. The secretary was requested to place on record the thanks of the sub-centre to Mrs Ticchurst for her donations of knitted articles and to all ladies who have so generously given their time in knitting and sewing, and for the parcels of clothing, etc., that have been handed in at the depot from time to time. ‘ The secretary reported that two parcels had already been sent to prisoners of war. United Church Service. The second united church service will be held in the Town Hall Greytown, at 8 o’clock on Sunday evening. The chairman will be the Rev L. Hayman and the speaker Canon Sykes.
