PRICE STABILISATION

COMMITTEE TO ADVISE GOVERNMENT. MEMBERSHIP ANNOUNCED. (By Telegraph—Press Association.) WELLINGTON, This Day. One of the most important matters arising out of the Economic Stabilisation Conference was the necessity for continuous investigation and study by competent persons to advise the Government on stabilisation of prices and incomes, said the Prime Minister, Mr Fraser, yesterday, announcing that the following had accepted appointment as members of an Economic Stabilisation Committee, which would commence to operate immediately:—Mr F. D. Cornwell, Mr A. T. Donnelly, Mr R. Eddy, Mr A. McLagen, Mr W. Marshall, Mr C. V. Smith. Mr Donnelly was the acting-chair-man of the Economic Stabilisation Conference last year, and is chairman of the Bank of New Zealand. Mr Smith is president of the New Zealand Manufacturers’ Association. Mr Marshall is a member of the Dairy Industry Council. Messrs McLagen, Eddy and Cornwell are members of the New Zealand Federation of Labour. In addition of the members mentioned, the Minister of Finance, Mr Nash, and the Minister of Industries and Commerce, Mr Sullivan, will, be representatives 1 of the Government on the committee.
