CROQUET HAUNUI CLUB. (“Times-Age” Special.) A meeting of the Haunui Croquet Club was held in the pavilion yester- 1 day. Miss Eva Card (president) was in the chair. Lady members of the local club played a Stableford bogey competition at the Gum Grove links yesterday afternoon. Mrs Gold (35 points) was first, Miss Nix and Mrs Feast (30) equal, second, and Mrs Pope (29) third. Home Nursing. Mrs Sharp’s weekly lectures in Red Cross Society’s rooms are proving popular with increasing attendance. This week the lecturer gave a demonstration on the making of poultices and other sick room duties. A feature of the classes is the practical exhibition of work shown by those present. Hospital Training. There has been good response to Mrs Sharp’s appeal for women to undergo 40 hours hospital training as cook V.A.D’s,. Home Guard. There was a fair attendance at the parade of the Home Guard on Tuesday night under Commander Hayes. After section, company and platoon drill had been undertaken, Commander Hayes gave an interesting lecture on range finding. Platoon Commander Claude Carter, will leave for Palmerston North tomorrow to attend a ten days refresher course.
