PATRIOTIC EFFORT “V” FAIR TO BE HELD. (“Times-Age” Special.) At a meeting of the MauricevilleIhuraua branch of the Women’s Division of the Farmers’ Union recently, it was decided to organise a “V” Fair in the Mauriceville East Hall, the date of which will be advertised later. There will be stalls for produce, sweets, ice cream, drinks, fancy goods, cakes, etc., and amusements for both young and old will be a feature of the occasion. The Mauriceville school children will also entertain those present and a baby show should prove an attraction to mothers. The proceeds will go to buy woollen comforts for the members of the Mercantile Marine and minesweepers. Home Guard. The Home Guard parade this week was instructive and interesting to all guardsmen. Rifle instruction and appropriate lectures were delivered by Commander E. W. Cheetham and Guardsman D. Cameron. School Dental Clinic. The Mauriceville West and East school committees met recently when dental treatment facilities for school children in the district were discussed. It is hoped that at an early date an improvement will be brought about in connection with the transport conditions. Soldiers’ Parcels. Letters received from soldiers overseas gratefully acknowledge the receipt of parcels from local organisations.
