NAZI FORCES
DIMINISHED RECENTLY IN NORWAY STATEMENT BY OSLO BURGOMASTER UNREST GROWING APACE. QUISLINGS DWINDLING TO INSIGNIFICANCE. (By Telegraph—Press Association—Copyright) (Received This Day, 11.15 a.m.) LONDON, September 24. The position in Norway today was indicated by Mr P. Hartmann, the Burgornasted of Oslo, who has arrived in London and is joining the Government of Free Norway as a Minister without portfolio. He was unable to estimate the German forces in Norway, but said they had recently been appreciably diminished, especially in Oslo. Those left v/ere mostly older men and youths. Food was scarce, but so far there had been no real starvation. Unrest had been steadily growing because of the behaviour of Quislings and followers of the Germans, the latter being directly responsible for the ■recent trouble in factories. Norwegians wholeheartedly favour the Allies and the ranks of the Quislings are dwindling to insignificance.
