MEAT BOARD COMPETITION OF EDUCATIONAL VALUE. TO BE HELD IN NOVEMBER. A meeting of representatives from the Wairarapa P. and A. Society and the Masterton A. and P. Association was held in Masterton yesterday to discuss the question of holding the annual Meat Board's lamb competition. Sir William Perry presided. It was decided to again hold the competition on account of its educational value. The competition will be for pens of three lambs, only two pens (six lambs) from each farm. Tuesday. November 18. is the date fixed for the competition. Messrs Thos. Borthwick and Sons will again provide morning and afternoon tea free to all as in the past. Prizes of £3, £2 and £1 will be paid for the best three pens judged in the yards, and £3, £2, and £1 for the best three pens on the hooks. The prize money has been donated by the Meat Board (£10) Sir William Perry (£1) and Mr P. Borthwick (£1). Mr N. Blatchford will donate £1 to the best single lamb on the hooks. Sir William Perry will also bring in some extra lambs for demonstrating to members of Young Farmers' clubs, and this should be of great benefit to young farmers. An effort will be made to obtain extra petrol for exhibitors to allow them to exhibit their lambs. Messrs Thos. Borthwick and Sons were accorded a hearty vote of thanks for their many acts of kindness at past competitions. Farmers arc urged to set aside lambs for this event and also attend the competition and demonstration.
