BAPTIST CHURCH OF CHRIST

BUSINESS MEETING & SOCIAL GATHERING. Preceded by a meeting of the Official Board, which was under the chairmanship of Mr C. J. Sims, the quarterly church meeting of the Masterton Baptist Church of Christ, was held in the Y.M.C.A. last evening. This being the first business meeting since the two churches amalgamated, it was followed by a social evening. There was a good attendance of members and friends. The church secretary, Mr W. Teeboon, gave a brief survey of events leading up to the joint decision to join forces, and he enumerated various lines of procedure, agreed upon by the official board, for the efficient running of the church. These were ratified by those present. Mr W. V. Madden, treasurer, in his statement, indicated that a bank account had been opened and that the financial side was most satisfactory, there being a credit balance. The Rev. L. R. Usmar, occupied the chair, conducted devotions, and acted as M.C. for the social part of the evening. Games and competitions were enjoyed by young and old. Opportunity was taken to bid farewell to Mr Gilman Senr., who shortly was to return to Invercargill. The happy gathering concluded with supper, served by the ladies of the church.
