CHRISTMAS PARCELS FOR SOLDIERS OVERSEAS. ("Times-Age” Special.) One hunderd and eighty nine Christmas parcels are to be forwarded from Carterton- to headquarters at Wellington for dispatch to soldiers overseas. The Carterton Borough provide 154, Carterton Women’s Institute 10, Mata-rawa-Dalefield Women's Institute 7, Gladstone Women’s Institute 6, Parkvale Women's Institute 6, Women’s Division of Farmers’ Union 6. The parcels will be packed at the Borough Council Chambers during the week. GOLF LADIES’ CHAMPIONSHIPS. The following is the draw for the ladies’ championship on Saturday:— Seniors: Mrs Colson v. Mrs Harrington, Mrs Murray v. Miss Berrill. Juniors: Mrs Johansen v. Mrs Robinson, Miss Smart v. Miss Corlett. ' Other players. are asked to arrange their own partners. Mrs Callander and. Miss Armstrong will be in charge of afternoon tea.. The draw for the men’s competitions, to be played over the week-end, willtake place on the links. All members are requested to arrive early. Two flight competitions will be held, in addition to the championship. Stolen Golf Clubs Found. Recently Mr Curtis, who had his golf clubs stolen when his car was removed from the Club Hotel, Carterton, and was subsequently located at Lower Hutt, has had the clubs returned, these having been found under a bed in a certain building. Plunket Society. As a result of the “Bulb Day” held on Mr and Mrs W. Henry Booth’s property at “Middle Run,” Carterton, on Saturday last, the Plunket Society will benefit to the extent of £34 3s. The thanks of the Society are tendered to Mr and Mrs Booth for their assistance so generously given each year for a worthy object. Football Match. Arrangements have been made for a football match to be played on the Carterton showgrounds on Saturday between the Carterton and Wellington senior teams. The Wellington players will arrive on Saturday morning a’iti. after the game will be entertained by the local club. South County Council. The monthly meeting of the Wairarapa South County Council will be held tomorrow morning. Personal Items. Miss Enid Newbould, of Carterton, who has been on her annual leave, has resumed her duties.
