The Berne radio is reported to have said that General Wavell js ready to launch a lightning attack in order 0 aid Russia. The radio added that powerful British and Imperial forces are massing in Syria and Iraq in readiness for an early move across Iran and t e Caucasus. NAZI OIL RESERVES APPROACHING EXHAUSTION. ACCORDING TO MOSCOW PAPER. MOSCOW, September 22. “Pravda” says that in three months of the Russian war Germany and her satellites have consumed 5,000,000 tons of oil from the reserve of 7,000,000 tons, and will soon be forced to tap current supplies. The present production does not cover more than onethird of the Germans’ requirements. DISGUISED BURIALS REPORTED GERMAN PRACTICE. LONDON. September 22. Moscow radio, referring to the German. practice of concealing losses, says that a village in the central sector which was recaptured by the Russians contained 40 graves with 40 crosses bearing the names of 40 German soldiers, but 300 soldiers were buried in the graves. The Soviet has ordered a relaxation of the blackout of Moscow city, including illumination of the squares and principal streets, except during air •raids. Hitherto the city has been darkened completely.
