In the Leningrad zone, Moscow states the Germans have made no progress ’ Berlin reports say that Russian counter-attacks there are particularly heavy The Germans are still using wave'upon wave of dive-bombers against Leningrad defences in e hope that they will succeed where the panzer divisions failed. The position in the Ukraine is still obscure. German reports speak of furious Russian resistance in the P°cket east of Kiev, and they indicate that Marshal Budenny is endeavouring to repeat the manouevres by which he successfully withdrew his troops from western Ukraine. The Italian news agency says -that most of Marshal Budenny’s army that escaped encirclement eastward of Kiev has been withdrawn across the Donetz River.
