REGENT THEATRE
WASHINGTON MELODRAMA
Thrills and suspense, romance, comedy and a group of younger players on the threshold of stardom, appearing in their most important roles to date, mark “Washington Melodrama,” tense detective mystery laid amid today's world events in America’s capital, to be shown tonight at the Regent Theatre. The story deals with a millionaire philanthropist, campaigning to feed starving Europe, who though an indiscretion becomes enmeshed in a blackmail plot which ends in the murder of a beautiful girl. A lost glove, found by a reporter on a sensational newspaper, furnishes a clue. His socialite daughter, aided by her fiance, a newspaperman, turns amateur detective to pin the crime on the real culprit and clear her father. Ann Rutherford discloses herself as a superb actress in the romantic lead, and Frank Morgan gives an impressive dramatic performance as the father.
