ST. JOHN AMBULANCE

CADET DIVISION CERTIFICATES. PRESENTATION LAST NIGHT. At the weekly parade of the Cadet Division of the St John Ambulance Brigade, held -in Masterton last night, the Cadet Superintendent, Mr C. S. McQuade, presented certificates as follow: Third badge, in lieu of Grand Prior’s Badge, yet to be secured from overseas: Sergeant G. B. Dean. The Grand Prior’s Badge is the highest order which can be attained in the Cadet Division.

Second badge: Corporals R. A. F. Martin, C. H. Davey. First badge: Acting Corporals R. J. Crothers, L. Coley, R. E. Rippon, L. R. Torrance, Privates R. Berney, Rex J. Henderson, F. Brown, N. J. AlcNicholl, D. E. Wilmshurst, W. Dell. To obtain a badge, it is necessary to pass examinations in four proficiency subjects. Proficiency certificates in Child Welfare were issued to Sergeant G. B. Dean, Corporal C. H. Davey, Acting Corporal R. J. Crothers, Private W. Dell.

In making the presentations, Mr McQuade said it gave him much pleasure to present so many well earned badges. He hoped to be able to again do so later in the year when members had won more certificates.

Benefit Dance.

A special effort is being made by the brigade on Wednesday, October 1, when a dance will be held, in the Masonic Hall, Masterton, to raise funds to send Christmas parcels to members serving overseas. The music will be supplied by Jack Barnes’s Orchestra and novelty dances will be held. Mr McQuade will act as M.C. and under his supervision proceedings should go with a swing. Special supper arrangements will be made and popular prices will be charged. A large attendance is anticipated.
