CARTERTON
WEDDING FREWIN—WADHAM. (“Times-Age” Special.) A wedding took place at St. Andrew's Church, Carterton, on Saturday afternoon, the contracting parties being Coral Joyce, youngest daughter of Mr and Mrs F. Wadham, Clareville, and Hilton James, second son of Mrs C. E. and the late Mr Frewin, Inglewood.
The church had been tastefully decorated by friends of the family. , The bride who was escorted by her father, was attired in a princess gown of magnolia satin, with which she wore a waist-length scalloped veil, finished with a top-knot of cream velvet flowers. Cream hyacinths and lilies forming a sheaf, completed the toilette. Attending the bride was Miss Mollie Dunn, who wore a frock of shell pink lace over satin, cut on lines similar to that of the bride’s dress. Her sheaf was of .pink hyacinths and camelias. Mr Phil Lewis, of Wellington, carried out the duties of best man. After the ceremony a reception was held in St. Andrew's Hall, the guests being received by Mrs L. Joseph, sister of the bride, who wore a cyclamen wool frock and a musquash coat. She was assisted by Mrs Frewin, who was dressed in a smart black frock of wool crepe-de-chene, a musquash coat and a baku straw hat.
For travelling the bride chose a smart frock of black moracain patterned in white and pale blue. She wore a large black hat of baku straw and carried a black tailored coat. The honeymoon is to be spent in the Sounds.
WAR SERVICE WOMEN’S AUXILIARY. A meeting of the Carterton District Committee of the Women’s War Service Auxiliary was held in the Borough Council rooms yesterday afternoon, there being present Mesdames H E. Ordish (in the chair). A. F. Pink, F. L. Barr and Miss O. W. Wolters. An apology for absence was-received from Mrs W. H. Hall. The secretary was requested to write io the P. and A. Society thanking them for the use of their room for the canteen lectures. It was reported that these lectures were being well attended.
It was left to the president to endeavour to make suitable arrangements for the commencement of classes in connection with transport work. It was reported that the members of the cycling corps were making good progress with their First Aid classes.
