ITALIAN CLAIM
TANKERS & MERCHANTMAN SUNK IN GIBRALTAR AND ANOTHER SHIP DAMAGED. “SPECIAL CRAFT” PENETRATES INTO HARBOUR. (By Telegraph—Press Association —Copyright) (Received This Day. 11.50 a.m.) An Italian communique states that a special craft penetrated into the Gibraltar roadstead and inner harbour and sank 10,000 and 6.000 ion tankers and also a 6,000 ton merchantman loaded with munitions. A 12,000 ton merchantman loaded with war mateiial was seriously damaged, after which it ran aground on the rocks and therefore is considered lost.
