ATHLETIC BEAT RED STAR. The match on Saturday between Red Star and the Athletic Club (Wellington) on the Emerson Street Reserve, Wellington, was played in carefree, holiday spirit. The visitors were late in arriving, and play did not begin till 3.35 p.m. The Athletic team threw the ball about with rare abandon, and ran out winners 19-6. Tries were scored for Athletic by Phelps (2), Stoneham (2), and Brown, one ot which was converted by Scott, and the referee, Mr H. B. Simmonds, added the extra points for the, last try in finished style. V. Gray ana Stewart scored tries for Red Star, for whom Smith and Howard, at fiveeighths, played well.
