PRISONERS OF WAR
OBTAINING ADVICE FROM GENEVA.
The procedure adopted by Mr A. V. Faulknor, Masterton, in securing news concerning his son, Private Robert Leonard Faulknor, who was posted as missing in Crete, will be of interest to those with sons or relatives posted as missing.
The following cable was sent by Mr Faulknor: “International Red Cross Committee, Palais du Consul General, Geneva. Grateful information 33101. Private Robert Leonard Faulknor, N.Z.E.F. Missing in Crete.” Mr Faulknor advises that the ordinary cable rate is 2s 6d per word but by deferred cable the cost was £3 for some thirty words. The cable was sent from Masterton on September 9 and on September 18 Mi’ Faulknor received advice that his son was a prisoner of war in Camp Stalaq VIII B, Germany, and was unwounded and well.
