A good strong tone was in evidence in all sections of the Feilding sale today, when prices were fully firm on recent quotations. Ewe mutton was in over-supply, but notwithstanding this there was a good clearance. Shorn sheep came forward, the difference between these and woolly sorts being 6s to Bs. Extra prime wethers made 30s lOd to 32s 10d; prime, 28s to 30s; light, 25s 4d to 26s lOd; extra prime ewes, 21s 7d fo 23s Id; prime, 19s to 20s lOd; light, 16s 7d to 18s 7d; unfinished, 12s 7d to 15s 4d; maiden ewes, 31s lOd; extra prime hoggets, 29s lOd to 32s 4d; prime, 26s 4d to 28s 10d; light, 21s 4d to 25s 6d. Best wether hoggets made 21s lOd to 23s lOd; second grade, 19s 3d to 21s; small, 15s 8d to 16s 7d; good ewe hoggets, 33s 7d to 36s 6d; second grade, 27s to 31s; smaller, 22s to 24s Id. Store cattle: Four-year forward bullocks, £9 15s to £lO 2s; three-year ditto, £8 8s; empty cows, good, £6 to £6 12s 6d; others, £5 Ils to £5 15s; yearling Jersey heifers, £6 10s; weaner ditto, £3; boner cows, heavy, £3 15s to £4 7s 6d; others, £2 to £3 ss. Fat cattle: Prime Hereford cows, £lO 7s 6d to £ll 17s 6d; lighter prime, £8 17s 6d to £lO 2s 6d; unfinished, £7 2s 6d to £8 7s 6d; ex-dairy cows, £4 5s to £6 7s 6d; medium prime ox, £l2 to £l2 12s fid; light, £9 7s 6d; vealers, £3 10s. Dairy cattle: Best springing heifers, £ll 10s to £l4 ss; others, £7 5s to £lO 10s; springing cows, £9 10s to £l2 15s; cows in milk, £6 5s to £ll.
Pigs: Good weaners, 10s to 12s; small, ss; small slips, 15s; good, 20s; stores, 25s to 275; porkers, 435; sows and litters, £3 7s 6d to £5 17s 6d.
CARTERTON SALE
Messrs Wright Stephenson and Co., Ltd., report:—A good yarding of sheep, cattle and pigs came forward at the Carterton sale yesterday. Prices were good throughout and a total clearance was effected. The following are some of the realisations: — Sheep: Fat wethers, 32s 6d, 335; light fat wethers, 245. 27s 9d; prime heavy hoggets, 29s 4d, 335; fat shorn wethers, 21s, 22s 6d; fat b.f. hoggets, 245, 23s 7d, 255, 27s Id; fat wether hoggets, 275; forward b.f. hoggets, 20s; fat ewes (woolly), 17s Id.
