WAIRARAPA ASSOCIATION CHAMPIONSHIPS E GRADE CONTESTS. HIGH STANDARD IN FINALS. Considerable interest was taken in the Wairarapa Table Tennis Association’s B grade championships, which were held in the Dixon Street Hall last night. The outstanding feature of the play was the promising display given by the younger players. Playing splendid table tennis throughout the tournament, W. Pateete scored a well-deserved win over W. Grant in the final of the men’s singles, the scores being 21/15, 21/14, 21/23, 18/21, 21/14. In the women's singles Miss W.- Lochore played a determined game to defeat Miss O. Quinn in the final, the scores being 21/16, 21/15. A thrilling duel was fought between R. Nicol and L. Foreman, Nicol emerging victorious in the third set. Results of the semi-finals and finals are: — Men's singles: Semi-final, W. Pateete beat D. Freeman 21/19, 21/18; W. Grant beat ’J. Forrester 13/21, 21/16, 21/17. Final, W. Pateete beat W. Grant 21/15, 21/14, 21/23, 18/21, 21/14. Men’s doubles: Semi-finals, O. Larsen and T. Condon beat N. Leadley and J. Catherall 21/18, 21/19; W. Grant and W. Pateete beat R. Nicol and L. Foreman 22/20, 21/17. Final, Larsen and Condon beat Grant and Pateete 22/20. 21/19. Ladies' singles: Semi-final. Miss U. Lidchore beat Miss U. Holtham 21/8, 21/19; Miss O. Quinn beat Miss V. Watson 21/5, 21/13. Final, Miss Lochorc beat Miss Quinn 21/16, 21/15.
