' The R.A.F. are reported to have been, active over the Channel and Northern France. This afternoon visibility over the Straits was poor, owing to haze, when a formation of aircraft, flying very high and coming from inland, passed out over the sea. Later the dull rumble of explosions was heard on the Kent coast and soon afterwards a large number of planes passed over the coast, coming from the direction of France. NiGHT TARGET DOCKS AT ST. NAZAIRE. (British Official 'Wireless.) (Received This Day, 10.25 a.m.) RUGBY, September 18. An Air Ministry communique states: “Last night Coastal Command aircraft bojnbed the docks at St. Nazaire. None of our aircraft are missing.”
