DRUIDS’ LODGE
BUSINESS AT FORTNIGHTLY MEETING. NEW BENEFITS FOR MEMBERS. The Masterton Dispensary Board was congratulated by the Druids’ Lodge, at the latter’s fortnightly meeting, over which A.D. Bro A. G. Swinn presided, on its new proposals for the benefit of members of friendly lodges. Reports were received on sick brethren of the lodge, all of whom were progressing favourably and sick pay and accounts amounting to £l9 0s 8d were passed. Several officers reported on a meeting at Carterton, held the previous week, when a ritual contest was held between past and present officers. The visitors were hospitably entertained and spent a most interesting evening. A report of the tenth dance in aid of members on- overseas service was presented by P.A. Bro W. R. Pawson and was considered most satisfactory. A hearty vote of thanks was passed to the dance committee and to Bros T. Corlett, T. W. Pickett and C. C. Wilmshurst and to the ladies’ committee and honorary members. The secretary reported that ten gift parcels were being despatched to members overseas ipn active service and arrangements for help in other directions were approved. It was decided to hold a ritual competition among officers and members next lodge night and teams were selected for this purpose.
In totalitarian politics they don’t bury the hatchet; they bury the opposition.
