Masterton Frost.
Masterton experienced a frost of 9.8 degrees this morning. f' Mawley Park Report. Thirty-two motor cars have used the Mawley Park motor camp from April 1 to August 31. Three oars used the grounds last month. \ Gymnastic Competitions. The directors of the Y.M.C.A. have the arrangements well in hand for the gymnastic competitions for the Tatton Cups, to take place on November 8. Art Club Meeting. The Masterton Art Club will hold its criticism tomorrow night at the home of Mrs L. T. Daniell, Akura Road. The criticism will be conducted by Mr McClennan. All active and honorary members are invited to attend. Abattoir Returns. Stock slaughtered at the Masterton abattoirs, last month was:—s9 cows, 33 heifers, 54 bullocks, 1 boner, 7 calves, 880 ewes, 370 wethers, 13 lambs and 135 pigs. One cow, 6 sheep and 2 pigs were condemned. Apex Investment Trust. A final dividend at the rate of four per’ cent per annum, free of income tax and Social Security and National Security charges, has been recommended by the directors of the Apex Investment Trust of New Zealand Ltd. The annual meeting will be held on October 2. Social Evils. All women interested in the future of New Zealand are invited to attend the public meeting to be held tonight at the Countrywomen’s Club at 7.30 o’clock. This meeting is a continuation of former meetings, when social problems were under discussion. Replies of representative organisations and a further plan of campaign will be considered. The meeting will be addressed hv Dr. N. H. Prior.
