- Mr S. G. Holland, Leader of the Opposition, returned to Wellington yesterday from Christchurch. The death occurred at Palmerston North of Mr Ludwig Rhional Lind. He was born in Palmerston North in 1894, and lived there till 14 years ago, when he moved to Wellington. He went to Foxton eight years ago. The death has occurred of Mr Percy Tom Prichard, dentist, at the age of 65 years, states a Press Association message from Dannevirke. He was the father of Flying Officer D. Prichard, R.A.F., who was recently awarded the D.S.O. He had lived at Dannevirke for 30 years. Councillor A. D. Low, chairman of the Gas Committee, has been appointed representative of the Masterton Borough Council to attend a meeting of representatives of municipal gas undertakings to be held on October 1, when proposals to form a Municipal Gas Association are to be discussed. “Mr Scrimgeour applied for leave and was granted it,” said the Minister in Charge of Broadcasting, Mr Wilson, last night when he was questioned on the reported illness of the Controller of Commercial Broadcasting, Mr C. G. Scrimgeour. While the controller is absent the service will be directed by Mr Beau Shiel, who was some time ago given leave of absence to make a visit to the United States. Mr H. W. Johnson, an officer of the Department of Health, died recently in Wellington. Before the Great War he was works manager for A. and T. Burt, Ltd. He joined the Department of Health in 1920 as technical inspector. He was secretary and treasurer of the Board of Examiners of the Royal Sanitary Institute for 17 years, and chairman of the Plumbers' Board of New Zealand since 1920.

After a painful illness, Mr W. Waters died recently at 1 the Wellington Hospital. He was the second son of Mr Samuel Waters, at one time wellknown , in Wellington mercantile circles. He commenced his career in the engineering firm of Mr Edward Seagar, and later became manager of the machinery department of Messrs E. W. Mills. Wellington. The death, at Ratanui in the Wanganui district, last Sunday, of Mr Wyvern George Moore, third son of the late Mr and Mrs Fred. Moore, of “Glenburn” Station, where deceased was born 56 years ago and his private interment in the Masterton Cemetery yesterday adjacent to his pioneer parents recalls an item in old St. Matthew’s Church records wherein the name of Mr Moore and other East Coast children (including that of his cousin, Mr Eldon Moore) appears in Baptism pages under date of December 6, 1885. At that period the late Rev. W. E. Paige was Vicar of St. Matthew's in succession to the Rev. J. F. Teakle, whose wider district ministrations began in 1875.
