THE WEDDING

THINGS TO REMEMBER. Relations of the bride occupy the front seats or pews on the left-hand side of the church, with the bride’s friends behind. The bridegroom’s relations occupy. corresponding seats on the righthand side. Upon arrival of the bridal car at the church, the bridegroom and best man follow the minister into the church and take up their position on the right-hand side of the chancel steps, the best man standing on the right of the bridegroom. The bridal procession move up the centre aisle towards the chancel with the first beat of the wedding march oii| the organ. As the bride reaches the bridegroom she withdraws her hand from the arm of her escort, who stands back, and removing her bouquet from her right hand to the left, offers her right hand to the bridegroom. Guests never leave their pews before the relatives of the bridal couple have left. After the ceremony the bridal couple drive directly to the photographer’s, and other guests proceed to the reception. At the wedding breakfast refreshments are first served, and then the officiating minister (or the most distinguished guest) proposes the health of the happy pair, and the bridegroom responds. After that the bride stands and cuts the cake. Before the conclusion of the wedding breakfast the bride and bridegroom slip quietly away to prepare for their wedding trip.
