“ONCE ABOARD THE LUGGER”
COMEDY TO BE STAGED AT OPERA HOUSE. The girls’ choir of the Inter House Association will stage in the Opera House, Masterton, on Saturday, September 20, and Monday, September 22, an outstanding comedy “Once Aboard the Lugger,” which gives the principals plenty of scope to display their ability. The comedy will be produced by Mrs E. J. Rich, who has in the past so successfully carried out similar work in Masterton. She has available a clever cast and these girls should be able to provide the audience with something above the average in the way of performance. The costumes for the principals, which will be one of the features of the entertainment, have been loaned for the occasion. Half the proceeds will be handed to the Nurse Phyllis Matthews Fund. It will be remembered that Nurse Matthews was seriously injured during an attack by a German raider on a British vessel which she was on board. The cast is as follows: Nancy McWhinnie (Captain Aloysius Murgatroyd); Audrey Bilderbeck (Bill, a Pirate); Mona Fulton (Charles, a Pirate); Ailleen Daly (Elizabeth); Barbara Hair (Letitia); Flo Bellis (Sir Percy Oddsbodkins); Thelma Jones (Mine Host). The ballets have been arranged by Miss Enid Thomson, and this should be a guarantee of their excellence. The musical part of the entertainment will be under the direction of Mrs Miller Hope.
