The deatli has occurred of Mr Francis S. Goldingham. Palmerston North. Mr Goldingham was a prominent business man. and had a long' connection with the military forces, particularly territorials. The death occurred recently of Mr Arthur Nelson Beattie, Ngaio Street. Palmerston North. Mr Beattie was interested in the work of the West End School, and was a member of the school committee for 15 years. Mr W. G. Brass, a well known business man and sportsman of Christchurch, died suddenly on Wednesday, aged 62. He was prominent in bowling circles, was a well-known trotting enthusiast, and took a great interest m the Caledonian Society, .having in February of this year completed 25 years of continuous service as secretary. Lieutenant-Colonel C. E. Hercus, D. 5.0., 0.8. E., has been appointed to command Of the Otago University Medical Company, N.Z.M.C. Major (temporary Lieutenant-Colonel.) G. A. D. Iverach. M.C.. relinquishes command of the company, and is transferred to the Reserve of Officers, Southern Military District. Flight Lieutenant M. W. Mills, officer in charge of administration at the R.N.Z.A.F. station, Wigram, will leave shortly on transfer to Air Headquarters, Wellington, where he will become staff officer to the Air Member for Supply. He will be replaced at Wigram by Flight Lieutenant T. Shanley, Air Headquarters. Mr F. O. Rice was unanimously chosen as the National candidate for Invercargill at a meeting of the electorate committee last night. The other two candidates (Messrs E. H. Smith and R. G. Webb) withdrew. Mr Rice is 42 and was born in Invercargill. He is a director and business manager of the firm of Rice Bros., Ltd., manufacturing and retail confectioners. The death occurred in Christchurch yesterday of Mrs Martha Rogers at the age of 7*B years. The late Mrs Rogers, who was born in Wales, had lived in North Canterbury for many years prior to taking up her residence in Christchurch. She was of a cheerful disposition and had made a wide circle of friends. Her husband, Mr E. A. Rogers, predeceased her three years ago. Mr E. R. Rogers (Masterton) is a, son. According to a Gazette notice last night, the following members of the Dairy Factory Managers' Registration Board have been appointed:—Messrs John Dunlop, dairy company director; John Murray, member of the New Zealand Dairy Factory Managers’ Association; Francis John William McKeown, member of the Otago-Southland Dairy Factory Managers’ Industrial Union; Winnard Milton Singleton, member of the staff of the Department of Agriculture.
