Frost in Masterton.

A frost of 9.1 degrees was registered in Masterton this morning. Help for Seamen. tn the report of the monthly meeting of the Country Districts Red Cross Society it was inadvertently stated that women spinners were handing in quantities of home-spun wool for the merchant navy. This should have read, wool for distressed seamen of the merchant navy, sent through Seamen’s Mission. Patriotic Dance. The Wairarapa Maori Women's War Auxiliary will hold a dance in the Municipal Hall, Masterton, on Saturday night to raise funds to send Christmas parcels to the twenty Maori soldiers from the district on overseas service. A presentation will be made to Private Kani, of Gladstone, on behalf of the Maoris of the district. Private Kani, who had a hand shot off in Crete, will be discharged from the Masterton Hospital on Saturday. It is anticipated that there will be a large attendance. The Druids’ overseas members benefit dance will be held in the Orange Hall tomorrow night. An excellent programme has been arranged and the music will be provided by Messrs J. West and G. Harding. Supper will be provided by the ladies' committee. The proceeds of these patriotic dances have enabled the lodge to forward this week a Christmas hamper •to each overseas member and birthday parcels are to follow at a later date.
