HOME GUARD TRAINING AT WEEKLY PARADE. (“Times-Age” Special.) The weekly parade of the Home Guard was held on Tuesday night under Commander Hayes, who has returned from the Army School of Instruction, Palmerston North. Scrgt. J. Buck took physical drill. The various platoons under their commanders then had revision of musketry and rifle drill. A lecture was given by Mr A. White, his subject being “Indication of Target.” A brief route march was also held. A parade is called for Sunday. Lady Galway Guild. The local committee of the Lady Galway Patriotic Guild has forwarded four cases of clothing, including a case of boots, to headquarters, Wellington. Miss Card, chairman, thanked all who had contributed so generously to the guild's efforts. Golf. The ladies played a medal competition on the Gumgrove golf links yesterday afternoon.' The results were: Mrs Gold 79, Mrs Feast 82, Miss Nix 83. Miss Nix defeated Mrs Gold in the final for the senior championship. Personal. Gunner James William Bargh, son of Mr and Mrs C. Bargh, was invalided home in the hospital ship Oranje. He is in hospital in Wellington. He is reported to be making .satisfactory progress. Miniature Rifles. The highest scores recorded on the Featherston Miniature Rifle Club’s range last night were: B. Williams 99, E. O’Neale 91, C. Foster 92, A. Viles 93, A. McNamara 92, K. McKenzie 94, H. Andersen 90, G. Hultenberg 91, I. Feast 94, M. Hodder 93, A. Cook 91.
